The best way to know a destination is by walking. If you are a nature
lover, leave behind the conventional routes and encourage yourself to discover
Cusco, Áncash or Amazonas with these seductive trekking routes.
In addition to Machu Picchu, in Cusco, there are two captive walks that
every tourist must take, such as getting the Mountain of Seven Colors and
Choquequirao. On the other hand, in Amazonas, you can have a direct contact
with nature, getting to have a privileged view of the waterfall of Gocta, one
of the highest in the world.
Kuélap
Located in the province of Luya, this archaeological site is one of the
main attractions of Amazonas. During the walk you can see walls, alleys and
friezes in the form of rhombuses and zigzag. The route is accessible and will
not require much effort.
Mountain of Seven Colors
Located in the province of Quispicanchi, it is the fashion attraction of
Cusco. From the city of Cusco you must go by car to the town of Pitumarca. The
journey lasts three hours and follow the Cusco-Puno road, from where you will
start the journey. The trekking usually lasts between three and five hours,
depending on the physical state of each person. Also, in Cusco you can visit the Palcoyo Mountain or Rainbow Mountain
Laguna 69
Located 96 km from the city of Huaraz, it is one of the main attractions
of the Huascarán National Park, in the Ancash region. The route to reach this
lagoon is of medium demand and usually takes between six and seven hours. The
starting point is the Cebollapampa camp, at an altitude of 3,900 m.a.s.l. Your
effort will be rewarded with a privileged view of turquoise waters.
The Inca Trail
In Inca times, the Incas arrived in Machu Piccchu through a path that
passed through imposing palaces and temples until they reached the Puerta del
Sol (Intipunku) from where the majesty of Machu Picchu was appreciated. Today
that road, called Inca Trail Tours to Machu Picchu, is traveled by thousands of visitors who know
among other Wiñay Wayna, Phuyupatamarca, Runkuracay and Warmiwañusca, are
unique buildings of Inca architecture. Due to the number of passengers who wish
to make this route, it is recommended that seats be reserved for it in advance. A shorter route is the Inca Trail 2 Day, or the Machu Picchu 3 Day Hike.
Choquequirao
The archaeological remains of Choquequirao, recently put in value, are
perhaps as impressive as those of Machu Picchu. The Choquequirao Trek 4 Days through high mountain
areas and wonderful Andean landscapes. It is certainly a strong walk but with
many satisfactions.
Salkantay
The Salkantay Trek, overwhelmed by the beauty of its
landscapes. The first day you arrive at Soraypampa at 3 850 meters above sea
level, where you spend the night. The next day, it travels around the snowy
Umantay to reach the Salkantay-Umantay pass at 4 500 meters above sea level,
with places of overflowing beauty. From there you descend to Chaullay at only
2900 meters above sea level to route to the town of Santa Teresa and from there
to Machu Picchu.
